Necropolis Immortal

Chapter 2211.2: Crimson Emperor Chapter

“Are you alright, Yun’er?” Lu Tianling finally found the way to exit the cross ark and quickly grabbed his grandson to determine his condition. He sighed with relief to find the young man safe and unharmed.

“I’m fine, just exhausted,” Lu Yun smiled. “How are you, grandpa? There’s no lasting side effects, are there?”

“No, and it’s all thanks to your pill, otherwise…” Lu Tianling shook his head, gratification on his face.

……

Tranquil moonlight spilled over the earth.

Given the tremendous boundary encircling Dark City, there were no defenders camped against its walls. A young man in white brocade robes and a sleeveless downy-blue overcoat strolled over the northern city walls. He held an exquisite wine flask and admired the moon between sips of wine.

It was Lu Yun and he was a bit depressed. He’d fired three blasts from the cross cannon to send one hundred immortals into an uproar. How much was the admiration and goodwill that should’ve resulted from that!

But none of it went to him; it was a complete wash as no one believed that the Lu young master was responsible for the deed. All of it focused on Lu Tianling. His name was on everyone’s lips and the entire realm talked about the legendary figure that fought four august immortals by himself, killing one of them. This level of accomplishment would make him a premier genius even in Great Xia—he would rival those perverse geniuses.

Lu Yun rose to his feet and threw his wine flask over the walls. A long moment passed before a crisp shattering sound traveled back to his ears. He heaved a long sigh and murmured, “Senior brother, I’ll come to you if you don’t come to me.”

He sat down cross-legged again and sent his mind into his dantian, trying to communicate with the hazy dao character that his nascent soul used for a seat cushion.

Humm!

A definitive hum later, Lu Yun found the scene changed around him. He was in a void of silver and probed around with his mind.

“As I thought, my physical body isn’t here. It’s just my nascent soul.”

The void was as if before, the unbounded cosmos around them. The center was land formed of starlight; a stone table and stone stools were placed in the very middle.

“Master? Senior brother?” he called out as he walked toward the table. The starlight sensed his arrival and shook a ray of blue out of them, one that solidified into a humanoid form.

“What brings you here, little junior brother?” Sky looked quizzically at Lu Yun.

“I’m here to request a cultivation method for my grandfather,” the young man cut straight to the chase.

“Cultivation method?” Sky blinked and made a few calculations. “So you’ve already obtained the bow and guessed its connection with the halberd!”

“What exactly is the bow and the halberd?” Lu Yun frowned.

“You would know if you understand dao,” Sky smiled.

“If I understood dao… I would be an immortal overlord,” Lu Yun calculated. Sky’s response corresponded to the Understanding Dao chapter of the Nine Chapters of Dao, which was the equivalent of immortal overlord. “Since senior brother has the Azure Emperor Chapter of Inception, surely you have the Crimson Emperor Chapter?”

Sky smiled. “I do not, but your guess is correct. Your grandfather will be able to refine the halberd if he masters that method.”

“Where is it?” Lu Yun asked hurriedly.

“Immortal Burial Valley,” Sky responded. “You will obtain it if you visit that locale, but that place is extremely dangerous and possesses things that will agitate your sealed memories…”

The man’s face grew solemn. He didn’t mind danger since none of it would truly threaten his junior brother. Lu Yun’s memories, however, were extremely important and could not be unsealed due to happenstance.

“If your grandfather does not master the Crimson Emperor Chapter before he reaches immortality, his body and nascent soul will be assimilated by the weapon to become part of it.”

“I understand,” Lu Yun nodded.

“Very well, you should go back now.” Sky dismissed Lu Yun’s form with a wave of his hand.

……

“Immortal Burial Valley…” Lu Yun came back to his senses still seated in a cross-legged position on the city walls. He smiled ruefully—he really didn’t want to go to Immortal Burial Valley as the things inside were beyond the scope of his current abilities.

But his senior brother said that the Crimson Emperor Chapter was within the valley, so he had to go.

“The Human Emperor of Great Xia summoned the image of the Sword of Chaos with his strength alone…” His expression took a turn for the better when he thought of what had taken place a few days ago. The Sword of Chaos was a legendary existence even in the world of immortals. The Sword of Chaos…

Another thing that Lu Yun was intimately familiar with and missed terribly.

Morning the next day.

The sun slowly rose in the sky as the earth returned to its usual hustle and bustle. Ouyang Shengtian gradually materialized in a remote cave.

“Was that Lu Tianling’s true strength?” Wryness filled his mouth. Even though he’d refined a wandering immortal’s nascent soul and inherited everything that was the immortal, he was still an ant in Lu Tianling’s eyes.

After the Ouyang genius lost to Lu Yun, he’d escaped in the chaos of the Azure Dragons battling Dark Orchid’s army. But given the blows between a million strong army, he suffered deep injuries as he fled.

“Thank goodness the injuries don’t touch my core essence…” Ouyang Shengtian heaved a slight sigh of relief. “But Lu Yun won’t easily let me go. Immortal Burial Valley… if I want to grow strong fast, I must go to the valley!”

He looked to the western sky with a resolute gaze. Although the Ouyang Clan still existed, it was now a Lu pawn. Ouyang Shenghe, Ouyang Shengmu, and Ouyang Shengxiang had fallen under Lu Yun’s control.

“Shenghe, Shengmu, Shengxiang, I’ll save you!” The young man clenched his fists. Although his siblings misunderstood him, he wasn’t willing to forsake them.

Ouyang Shengtian suddenly felt the back of his neck tighten and cold air come for him. He subconsciously drew taut like a bow and darted out like a panther.

BAM!

A pit three meters across appeared where he’d been standing.

“Not bad, not bad, you evaded a blow from my Lil Black.” A voice akin to withered wood rubbing against each other sounded when Ouyang Shengtian stood up. It sent goosebumps all over his body.

Whoosh!

He summoned a golden spear into his hand and lifted his head in the direction of the speaker. He swore that he’d never seen someone so ugly in his life. The young man in front of him was incomparably ugly with thick lips, a flattened nose, one eye twice the size of regular eyes and the other smaller than a peanut.

His skin was pitted and coarse. Other than a human form, there wasn’t anything human about his appearance.

“How can someone so ugly exist…” Ouyang Shengtian murmured to himself.

“Hmph.” The ugly young man flicked a sideways glance at him. “You have the right to become my servant since you’ve evaded Lil Black’s blow.”

A snake fifteen meters long and as thick as a bucket reared next to the young man. One pale-golden horn the length of a meter grew from its head and it glared coldly at Ouyang Shengtian.

“A blackwater snake king… you have a soul separation blackwater snake king?” Ouyang Shengtian didn’t lose his temper as he’d matured after experiencing the rises and falls of life in the wandering immortal’s memories and experience. While he maintained his composure, he would never become another’s servant!

Hummm hummm.

Two pale-golden spear images appeared next to him. A contemptuous smile spread across the ugly young man’s face and he shifted, turning indistinct.

Ouyang Shengtian’s pupils constricted violently. Massive force came from behind him just as he was about to take action and threw him out before his true origin had a chance to operate.

Thump!

Soul separation Ouyang Shengtian didn’t last even one move against the ugly young man!

“Kid,” his opponent stooped next to the Ouyang genius. “Either be my servant or Lil Black’s food. Choose wisely.”

He smiled merrily, drying up the tears in Ouyang Shengtian’s eyes.

……

A few days later, Lu Yun left Darklake Empire with only Terra Demon. The nation had become a forbidden zone in Jade Ruins Realm. Foreign immortals did not dare easily draw near. Forbidden items such as cross cannons had appeared! No one wanted to be caught in the crossfire.

Not to mention, there were two golden immortals in residence. Yan Guichi was in no shape to return for Lu Tianling given the losses he’d suffered.

Immortal Burial Valley now fully lived up to its name. Great Xia had lost six marquises and one titled king in battle of that day, taking the worlds by storm. It also looked different after suffering a blow from the Sword of Chaos. It was now a valley ten thousand kilometers across, the entrance to the valley at its center.

Immortals were forbidden from entering Immortal Burial Valley!
